How would you describe the Austin Achieve community?

I love how collaborative our school community is. One of my favorite things about Austin Achieve are the people I work with. I can 100% rely on everyone in the 6th grade team which means I never feel alone in the work that I am doing. We are a very cooperative organization and I love that I am working alongside so many people who care so deeply about our kids, just like I do.

As a teacher, what kind of support can you expect to receive at Austin Achieve?

I think the biggest support teachers receive at Austin Achieve is genuine appreciation for the work that we do. While extremely rewarding, teaching can also be very difficult. I feel our leadership team understands this and goes above and beyond to make sure teachers feel valued, supported, and encouraged throughout the entire year.

What are the benefits of working at Austin Achieve?

At Austin Achieve, teachers are given many opportunities to be leaders to help build the structures and supports for our school. Our organization is continuously growing, changing, and improving to best serve our scholars and the changes we make as a school often come straight from teachers in the classroom.

Teach for America Alumni

About 30% of our teaching staff have been a TFA corps member. Our TFA teachers come to us after service in Rio Grande Valley, New Orleans, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Oklahoma, and Mississippi among other regions.

Who We Serve

At Austin Achieve, we serve a population of scholars where 93% qualify for free or reduced lunch. Free or reduced lunch is determined by a family's proximity to the poverty line. We also serve a majority of first generation college scholars.

Emphasis on Extracurriculars

We are home to 45 clubs and after-school activities including beekeeping, soccer, and yoga.

High Retention Rates

For the 2016-17 school year we retained over 97% of our staff.
